Santana, Dalva Luiz de Queiroz; Ferreira, Carlos Alberto; Martins, Emerson Gonçalves; Silva, Helton Damin da.
The grevilea, Grevillea robusta (Cunn), species of the  Proteaceae family, native of Australia it was introduced in Brazil and in several other countries of the world, for ornamentation, wind breaks and to shade agricultural  crops. In general the grevilea has few pests in its area of natural dispersion and also in Brazil. Recently a severe infestation of the cicada Aethalion reticulatum (Hemiptera: Aethalionidae) was verified in experimental plantings of  grevilea’s plantation in São Miguel Arcanjo, SP. This is the first verification of A. reticulatum causing damages to G. robusta. A. reticulatum is an sap sucking insect and the damages in grevilea are similar to the observed in fruit  plants.

Maeda, Shizuo; Silva, Helton Damin da; Bellote, Antonio Francisco Jurado.
The application of cellulosic waste in forest plantations is an alternative to disposal, but more studies are necessary to confirm the safity of this disposal. The response of Pinus taeda L. to salinity in Humic Distrocryept was evaluated. In plantation, the seedlings were assessed for their height and stem diameter (SD), and at 120 days, were assessed the SD, height, dried root biomass (DRB), shoot (DBS) and total dried matter (TDM). The contents of P, K, Ca, Mg and Na were determinated, and, based on these levels it was estimated the quantity of these elements and calculated the efficiency use in leaves and roots and translocation to the shoot. Except the relationship between DSB/DRB, the other variables were significantly influenced by increased...

Neste...

Equations for calculation of volume and weight of aerial compartiments of eight-year-old Grevillea robusta (Cunn.) trees PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Ferreira, Carlos Alberto; Martins, Emerson Gonçalves; Silva, Helton Damin da.
This paper presents results obtained for fitting equations to estimate volume and weight of aerial compartments of Grevillea robusta trees. Twelve trees representing four provenances were collected from an eight-year-old provenance trial located in the municipality of Anhembi, State of São Paulo. The trunks of the trees were segmented until the minimum diameter of 5 cm. The heartwood was measured till the height it was possible to be distinguished in the tree. Allometric models were the most suitable for this paper proposes. The inclusion of the combined variable (total height multiplied by the diameter at breast height) contributed to a better adjustment of most equations. The standard errors of the estimates were relatively high for heartwood and bark...
